The import of potatoes from Armenia to Russia has increased more than 7 times

Since the beginning of 2024, the import of potatoes to Russia from Armenia has increased more than seven times, from China - more than three times, and from Belarus - by 60.8%. "During this year, the volume of potato imports from Belarus increased by 60.8% (in 2024: 168.5 thousand tons), from China - more than three times (in 2024: 40 thousand tons), and from Armenia - more than seven times (in 2024: 10.8 thousand tons)," said the message of Rosselkhoznadzor. In general, 395,500 tons of potatoes were imported to Russia from the beginning of 2024, which is 7.9 percent less compared to the same period of 2023. The main countries supplying such products to Russia are traditionally Belarus, Egypt, Azerbaijan, China and Armenia. Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev asked the Ministry of Economic Development and Agriculture of Russia to work on importing potatoes from friendly countries in order to meet the growing demand.
