The relatives of the missing were not received again from the Ministry of Defense
October 11, 2021, Yerevan Months after the 44-day war, many parents of dead and missing servicemen are still waiting for news from their sons. Although it has not been officially confirmed, some relatives believe that their sons are alive and captured. The parents claim that they even have proof. Today, hundreds of parents again gathered in front of the Ministry of Defense and demanded an answer from the minister. Their goal is to understand what is the basis of this indifference of the state, why they were treated with such contempt, when the lives of their children were sacrificed for the sake of Armenia. "We presented them with evidence in every form that there are facts, but as they say, it is being ignored until now. We also understand that if they suddenly supported one parent, they should be ready to respond to all parents," said Karine Tevosyan, the wife of missing serviceman Hakob Harutyunyan. Even some relatives who have received remains and DNA identification are skeptical about the results. "We understand with our information that the boys are alive, what they represent, the DNA they give, is also a lie, there are people who actually prove that it is a lie, because there are evidences. And what is being done, probably everyone is aware that nothing is being done," said Edik Arevshatyan, the uncle of the missing serviceman. Human rights defender Siranush Sahakyan, who is currently involved in the protection of the rights of the parents of the missing persons, expressed his belief in our conversation that the survival of many of the missing persons is not confirmed officially, because the state does not do sufficient work in this direction, does not show any interest in this issue. The government simply considers the issue closed and ignores the rights, pain, and grief of these people and openly disdains them. Sahakyan is sure that the number of prisoners is higher than the official one, but the sad thing is that this is not confirmed not only by the Azerbaijani side, but also by our state. "We gave our brothers to the Ministry of Defense, let the minister also give us an answer. We have been wanting to see the minister for three days, but he does not accept. If he doesn't accept today, we will all go to his house in Etchmiadzin and wait for him at home," declared Tatul Ghukasyan, a participant of the action, who came from Russia and has been looking for his brother for several months. Human rights defender Siranush Sahakyan emphasized that many of them turned to the Red Cross, where the fact that a number of servicemen were alive and in captivity was confirmed, so they will be consistent with their relatives in order to achieve justice.
