Hayrenik party will not participate in the 2026 parliamentary elections. This was stated in the statement issued by the "Homeland" party. "At the session of February 26, the executive body of the Hayrenik party discussed the internal political situation of Armenia, the existing internal and external challenges, as well as the developments characteristic of the pre-election phase. Recording: 1) The change of power is a top priority, which stems from the strategic goals of the state, and its justifications and reasons have been presented for years. 2) Acute internal political tension continues to be maintained. 3) The political field remains polarized, without a real unifying state ideology and a clear value axis. 4) Mechanisms of legal and moral responsibility towards state institutions do not provide effective balances and control in practice. 5) Political processes continue to be built with non-institutional logic, which inhibits the possibility of sustainable state development. 6) The ideological foundations, programmatic priorities and strategic visions of Armenia's future differ from the approaches of other forces operating in the political field, as a result of which the formation of the alliance becomes unrealistic. 7) The increase in the number of forces participating in the elections from the opposition field can cause the fragmentation of voters' votes and inefficiency in the distribution of political resources, which in the above conditions can negatively affect the results of the expected electoral processes. Summarizing what has been recorded, on the one hand, with the aim of contributing to the consolidation of opposition voices, and on the other hand, not to go along the path of forming artificial alliances and/or associations without an ideological basis, the executive body of the Party decided: 1. not to participate in the parliamentary elections expected in 2026, 2. urge the party members, sympathizers and supporters to vote for any of the real opposition forces in the upcoming parliamentary elections, according to their own preference, 3. Consistently continue the development process of the "Homeland" party in all directions of party building. At the same time, we inform you that we will address the issues related to this decision, if necessary, after the summary of the election results, based on the responsibility that before the elections, a condition or an opportunity is not created in any way that could harm the real opposition forces," the statement said.
