There will be curses and insults, I will react in the same way. Pashinyan

Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Facebook page: "My impression from the posts of a number of users is as follows. When the latest vocabulary is used against me and my family members, my supporters, I am not the head of the country. And when I retort, I am already the head of the country, who should not allow himself such a thing. But everything can be allowed for me, my family members and associates. I understand that the head of the country has greater restrictions than the opposition. But opposition parties also have limitations. If the opposition has no restrictions, how can the head of the country protect himself, his family members and his supporters who are being targeted in the same way? Switch to illegal methods? It is impermissible and unacceptable. Shall we impose a punishment for a serious offense? We tried that too, but the noise was the same as if they were restricting the right to speech in Armenia. Go to court with civil lawsuits? The noise is the same, freedom of speech is suppressed. And besides, with whose money and how much to go to court? It's an expense, isn't it? Who will finance that cost? This is not possible with a personal, family, party budget. With the state budget, there will be the same noise. Tolerate swearing? We still understood about myself, but I can't tolerate my supporters and family members anymore. Therefore, my position is clear. There will be a sharp but regularly worded criticism, I will do the same. There will be curses and insults, I will react in the same way. There will be respect, I will respond with respect. Please don't expect anything else. Moreover, I will call all my associates and supporters to do the same. Actively act in the same way. There is no alternative. Either there will be a public consensus on this issue and we will have a no matter how sharp but civilized debate, or there will be a grass-to-grass field, maybe not one, but one in 10, even one in 20, but it will definitely happen and it will be very strong. Please don't expect anything else. I am a supporter of civilized debate. But this is a question that I do not decide, let those in the opposite political camp decide. PS: The next solution is for political society and the public themselves to demand the criminalization of grave insults. And let's form a public consensus on this. How will you decide, in short?"

The church raised its moral voice, refused to bow to the power that brought disaster

The church raised its moral voice, refused to bow to the power that brought disaster

Former Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanyan writes on his Facebook page: "In the midst of a deep national crisis, after the loss of Artsakh, the displacement of more than 120,000 compatriots, and the threat of new territorial concessions, one would have expected the Armenian leadership to show humility, moral clarity, and promote national unity. Instead, Nikol Pashinyan initiated an unprecedented and reprehensible rhetorical campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church and its clergy. The latest blasphemous expressions are not only inappropriate for the head of the state, but also dangerous and corrosive to the foundations of our statehood. What is the Church's "sin" in Pashinyan's eyes? That he dared to speak, raising his moral voice at a time when many institutions were silenced or subdued. The fact that it refuses to bow to a government that is responsible for the military disaster, public demoralization and erosion of Armenia's sovereignty. The fact that it continues to embody and transmit a centuries-old national identity, which neither revolution nor oppression can eliminate. Paradoxically, the Church did not declare war against the state. it is the state that has declared war against the Church. The fact that these attacks coincided with the international conference of the World Council of Churches held in Bern with the participation of the Catholicos of All Armenians and Cilicia is very telling, the purpose of which was to protect the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage of Nagorno Karabakh. The Church bears the moral weight of history, the trust of the people and an identity that stands above the politics of the past and the catastrophic failures of the present. Pashinyan sees it, and it scares him. This is not the first time in our history that the Church has risen as the guardian of the people in the face of political collapse and ontological threat. For centuries, during the years of foreign rule and the Soviet years, the Armenian Church preserved our collective soul and spoke on our behalf when no one else could. And today he is doing that work again, not as a political force, but as the conscience of the nation. Pashinyan's shameful attacks against the Church are not just words. They are an attempt to humiliate and delegitimize the only institution that remains independent of its control. However, the stronger the attacks, the more visible its insecurity becomes, and the more the people realize who really stands by their side. This is not just a clash between Pashinyan's supporters and the spiritual class. This is a battle for the spirit of Armenia. And when the government chooses to humiliate the Church instead of protecting its people, it loses both moral authority and national legitimacy."

There is no question of withdrawing demands against Azerbaijan from international courts on the agenda. Yeghishe Kirakosyan

There is no question of withdrawing demands against Azerbaijan from international courts on the agenda. Yeghishe Kirakosyan

The issue of withdrawing Armenia's lawsuit against Azerbaijan from international courts is not on the agenda at the moment. This was announced by Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the representative of Armenia on international legal issues, on September 18, at the Second World Armenian Summit. "The judicial process continues, we are waiting for the court's decisions. International legal processes cannot be opposed to the peace process. Such contrasts are artificial. It is no coincidence that this comes from Azerbaijan, where this idea originated from. This indicates that Azerbaijan is concerned about legal processes. Lawsuits and decisions have a serious impact on the behavior of Azerbaijan. It is important to continue the process, it is a part of the peace process," he said. Kirakosyan explained that the legal process was initiated not only to restore the violated rights of Armenians, but also in terms of interstate claims, it is also a war of narratives. "In the framework of this process, many stories, which Azerbaijan has been putting forward for a long time, are denied. In addition, the positions of Armenia are being strengthened. The lawsuits concern not only the people of Artsakh, but the whole of Armenia. We are talking about the attempt to erase the traces of Armenians in the region," he emphasized. Kirakosyan added that an important part of Armenia's demands against Azerbaijan is the preservation of Armenian cultural monuments in Artsakh. "During the court proceedings under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, we submitted a demand for the protection of the cultural heritage of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, considering that it is one of the manifestations of Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian policy. erasure or falsification of history," he said. Kirakosyan reminded that the court satisfied this demand of Armenia by adopting an interim decision on December 7, 2021.
